About Me.
Hi there, my name is Shayla Riccio, I go by "Shay". I grew up in Illinois and moved to awe-inspiring Colorado in 2010. Like so many others, I utterly love it here and feel it is my true home.
I met my darling husband in 2012 in Fort Collins, Colorado. We started our family soon after with our first fur-son, Odin (the face of the furbaby logo).

I have many interests and loves, including art, nature, reading, writing, cooking, exercising, and spending time with loved ones. But by far, the thing that makes me light up the most is animals. I've always loved and been fascinated by animals. As a kid, my family often housed at least three cats and one dog at any given time. I was obsessed with all my furry friends and as soon as I got a camera, I was documenting their every move.
Naturally, I went into the creative field early, and worked professionally as a photographer for 15 years. I worked mainly in commercial photography (aka: products and models wearing products). Although I was good at this work, it did not fulfill me, and I decided to make a change. I redirected my creative skills into something that made me truly joyful. And the choice was obvious: pet photography!
My unwavering adoration for animals made it an easy decision, and after my first Furbaby photo shoot, I knew this is what I was meant to do.
So, what exactly do I do? I capture a sliver of the magnificent essence and light that is your pet; their personality, quirks and the special bond they share with you.
In my view, our pets are the purest and brightest lights in our universe. They are our best friends, our companions, our shadows, our bed warmers, our furbabies. It would be my honor to spend time with you and your pet so we can create beautiful, touching images that you will cherish forever.
Meet Shay's Dog, Odin
Meet the face of Furbaby Photography, and my family's first fur-son. My hubby and I adopted Odin at the Larimer Humane Society in 2014. He looked like a half polar bear, half baby seal; needless to say, he stole my heart.

Odin is a very clever boy, and has taught me patience and tolerance with his many shenanigans over the years. His interesting quirks include a terrible fear of human sneezes, snorting for attention, and burying toys in the dirt with his face.
He is a born explorer, and loves hikes, walks, and car rides. When he's not out and about, he is by my feet while I do computer work or cuddling his papa. His favorite foods include cheese sticks, tuna, and chicken anything. He is a pampered pup in every way, and loved beyond belief. I have about 1.8 billion photos of him.
